Investors Bridge to the Strait of Malacca

Malaysian Deputy PM Najib Tun Razak said, the proposed construction of a bridge across the Strait of Malacca linking Malacca and Sumatra need to study carefully and comprehensively.

According to Najib, one of which need to be reviewed is the cost of the bridge is estimated to cost 11 billion U.S. dollars by the mass media of Malaysia, on Wednesday (24/12).

He said it is responding to a proposal that appears on the convention's and the Islamic world (DMDI) followed by some 1,000 participants from 13 countries including the six governors of Sumatra present there.

President DMDI once the Menteri Besar (Governor) of Malacca Mohd Ali said, bridge construction in the Strait of Malacca along the 52 km will be bridges in the world and the impact of development is the development of social economy in both parties.

"We need a thorough review and then presented to both governments. We must see whether the cost can be received and how the income from," said Mohd Ali.

He said foreign investors are seeking to finance the mega development projects. Najib suggested it as the beginning of that second area is connected by ferry between Kuala High and Dumai (Sumatra).
